Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen

[ English | Deutsch | Español | Français | Italiano ]

Gus Hansen experienced a wonderful year on the WPT where he was the only one to achieve closing game in 3 of the tournaments. Gus Hansen has appeared on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might recall one of the biggest pots in high stakes poker recorded history against Daniel Negreanu. Hansen secured a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has made many televised poker appearances and is thought to be one of the greatest gamblers anywhere in the world. While participating in net poker, a different side of Hansen has been seen. He frequently participates in the 200/400 No Limit max buy in of $40, 000. Hansen more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very weak. He waits patiently for a good hand and then goes all-in. I believe Gus is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is flat broke, he has no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy in.

Buying in for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of big stack poker. Gus is assumed to be one of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy-in for the full dollar value. I think television can skew our perception of the real world sometimes. The best players in the world might be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be found playing internet poker on Full Tilt. He normally plays in high stakes omaha eight-or-better and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he back up his skills in cash games?
