Net High Stakes Poker- Who is Gus Hansen?
Posted in Poker on 12/27/2015 03:21 pm by JessieGus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the WPT where he was the only participant to achieve last game in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he paid $400, 000 to play. You might remember one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker history against Daniel Negreanu. He won a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is deemed to be one of the best enthusiasts in the world. While playing online poker, a different side of Hansen has appeared. Gus regularly plays in the 200/400 No Limit maximum buy-in of $40, 000. Gus generally buys-in for the min of $16, 000 and gambles very poorly. He waits for a decent hand and then goes all in. I accept that Hansen is an outstanding poker player but not even close to the regular players at 200/400no limit. Unless he is broke, he has no reason to play at the table with the minimum buy-in.
Playing for the min takes almost all of the expertise out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be 1 of the greatest poker players anywhere in the world but he can’t buy in for the full amt.. I believe television can alter our perception of the real world sometimes. The greatest players in the world might be players you have never heard of. Gus can be seen playing online poker on Full Tilt. He usually competes in high stakes omaha high and texas hold’em. Gus Hansen has proven himself as a competition player. Can he use his skills in money games?
