Focus on Annie Duke

[ English ]

Annie Duke may not have won her first WSOP Bracelet until two thousand and four but Annie remains one of the most powerful poker players around the ring games at The Bellagio in Las Vegas. Annie’s long-overdue WSOP win came with success at the "forgotten game" of Omaha Hi-Lo.

While players from the "young crowd" of poker go berserk after a huge success at the tables, Annie heads home to be "mommy" to her four children. She hails from New Hampshire and was raised into a family of poker players. If you do not accept that, observe her brother, Howard Lederer, in action, Howard taught Annie how to play poker.

However, Annie Duke is no small fry kind of girl and has won her share of difficult matches, including knocking out Howard along the way on numerous occasions.

Earning well over 3 million dollars in tournament action, Annie became a advisor to both UltimateBet.com and Hollywood actor Ben Affleck, who wanted to hone his techniques and become a big player in poker.

You may glimpse her at the Bellagio, you’ll see her on TV and you might even play with her in an internet poker game, but do not expect an easy win. Unless you are a champion-in-the-making, you’ll not beat her. However, it would be cool to say you played at the same table as "The Duke".
