Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker competitor on the globe by most of the top professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching the age of one. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, he was hooked on poker and wished to discover every little thing he could about poker. Phil routinely would tell his parents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t permit the adverse comments from other people destroy his goal of becoming one of the greatest poker competitors in the world.
Phil began competing seriously after getting a fake ID with the name of Jerome. He honed his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning number of years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular outcome at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he achieved two final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the next level and headed out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Phil credits his success to discipline and an immeasurable love for the game of poker. Phil states that he’s learning every single day and is incredibly humble about his achievements. Phil admits to making errors in each game of poker and always strives to get better.
Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers destroying money games on a normal basis.
