NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker contender in the world by quite a few of the top professionals. Phil Ivey was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to Jersey before reaching the age of one. His grandpa introduced him to one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wished to discover everything he possibly could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the negative comments from others destroy his dream of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.

He started competing seriously after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his abilities at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a regular thing at the time. Phil made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he made 2 final tables and won his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha game. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to hard work and an undying love for the game of poker. He states that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his achievements. He admits to making blunders in each game of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big tournaments, he prefers destroying cash games on a normal basis.
