No-Limit Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the greatest poker player on the globe by many of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and moved to NJ before reaching turning 1. His grandpa showed him to one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to discover everything he possibly could about the game. Phil routinely told his grandparents that he was going to be a professional poker player. He didn’t allow the adverse feedback from others kill his dream of becoming one of the strongest poker players on the planet.

Phil began competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his skills at the casinos in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and coming away with a win was not a regular thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP when he achieved two final tables and won his first WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated a number of the better known pros including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil decided to take his game to the successive level and headed out west to Vegas. Phil continues to compete in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Ivey credits his success to hard work and an immeasurable passion for the game of poker. Phil states that he is learning every day and is quite humble about his success. He admits to making errors every single game of poker and always aspires to get better.

Although Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he likes destroying cash games on a normal basis.
